Good Security Habits
Making your home safe is imperative. There are always people who pose a threat to your family and possessions. Devoting some thought to
home security is time well spent. Even a few of the following measures toward increasing the security of your home will help avoid
very negative events.
1. Install home security devices such driveway alarms and security cameras. These will dramatically increase your level of home security.
2. Ask your local police department to help you conduct a safety check. They are expert at noticing vulnerable spots and suggesting improvements.
3. Keep the area around your home visible from the street and well lit.
4. Inventory and engrave your valuables. Store your inventory in a secure place such as a safety deposit box.
5. Make sure your homeowner's policy covers your valuables.
6. Never leave a key to your home under a doormat or other outdoor location. Thieves are talented at finding these.
7. Make sure your house number is prominently displayed and lit at night. In the event of an emergency, response personnel will be better able
to find you quickly.
8. Never leave a ladder un-attended in your yard. A thief can use this to gain access to upper windows and children can also hurt themselves.
Employing these methods will make your home much more secure. Being security conscious is a good habit that brings safety and calm.
